The 2021 stone import report from the United States was released, and the import of quartz stone plates increased by 45.8%

According to US stone media reports, in 2021, the value of natural stone imports from the US exceeded 2.3 billion US dollars, an increase of 27.9% year-on-year. Among them, the value of stones imported from Brazil exceeded 750 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 29.6%, accounting for 32.7% of the value of natural stones imported from the United States. It is the largest source country of natural stones imported from the United States. Italy, India, China and Türkiye followed closely, accounting for 17.3%, 14.4%, 12.4% and 10.9% respectively.

In terms of quantity, in 2021, the United States imported more than 3 million tons of natural stone, with a year-on-year increase of over 18.2%. The report divides natural stone materials into six categories, including granite slabs and products, marble slabs and products, cave stones, non roofing slate, other calcium carbonate stones, and other stones. Among them, granite plates and products were about 1.4 million tons, an increase of 6.5% year-on-year, with imports from Brazil accounting for over 48%; 810000 tons of marble plates and products, up 37.0% year on year, with imports from Türkiye accounting for more than 51%; 240000 tons of cave stones were imported, up 9.6% year on year, accounting for more than 61% of imports from Türkiye; Other calcium carbonate stone imports reached 130000 tons, up 29.1% year-on-year, with imports from Canada accounting for over 14%; Other stone imports reached 510000 tons, an increase of 18.2% year-on-year, with imports from Brazil accounting for over 32.7%.

In 2021, the value of quartz slab imported from the United States was about 1.72 billion US dollars, a significant increase over the previous year, with a growth rate of 45.8%. Among them, the value of imports from Spain exceeded US $360 million, a year-on-year increase of 46.2%, accounting for 21.2% of the value of quartz plate imports from the United States. India accounted for 19.5%, Vietnam 18.5%, Israel 4.2%, South Korea 3.1%, and Italy 3.1%. In terms of quantity, in 2021, the United States imported 200 million square feet of quartz stone slabs, equivalent to 18.68 million square meters, with a year-on-year increase of 49.2%. Among them, imports from India exceeded 55.6 million square feet, or about 5.17 million square meters, with a year-on-year increase of 99.4%, accounting for about 27.7% of the total amount of quartz stone plates imported from the United States.

During the same period, the value of imported ceramic tiles from the United States was nearly 1.2 billion US dollars, an increase of 27.2% year-on-year.
